Deniz Aydın is a London-based artist working across the disciplines of ceramics and photography. With a background in Photography and Graphic Arts, her practice explores themes of personal transformation, the bonds we form with our surroundings, and the process of rebuilding the self following her migration from Istanbul to London in 2018.

Her journey into ceramics began as a search for the tangible, hands-on process she had known from her days in the photographic darkroom. This focus on materiality and direct engagement with the medium now sits at the core of her ceramic work.

Working primarily with hand-building techniques, Deniz values the creative scope this approach allows. She creates forms that embrace the slow, intentional nature of the process, exploring the balance between artistic intent and the natural character of the clay through abstract and organic forms.

In turn, this focus on the handmade has reshaped her photographic work, guiding it back to its origins as a personal and observational practice in the form of street photography.

She continues to explore these themes through her dual practice in ceramics and photography.
